Step back in time and experience the sights, sounds and stories of Ireland’s railway heritage at Whitehead Railway Museum for European Heritage Open Day!

Enjoy free entry to the museum and explore all five of our fascinating galleries, filled with historic railway artefacts, restored exhibits, photographs and stories from the golden age of rail travel. Discover the locomotives, people and engineering that brought the railway to life.

There’s something for all ages to enjoy, including our dedicated children’s area, where young visitors can play with toy trains, dress up in railway-themed outfits and enjoy imaginative play. Children can also explore our sensory room, designed to provide a calm and engaging space for younger visitors.

For an extra special experience, climb aboard our heritage steam train and enjoy a short steam train ride within our premises. Train rides are available for an additional charge and are hauled by our 105 year-old steam locomotive No.3BG "Guinness". You will be transported to a bygone era!

Our café will be open for hot and cold food and refreshments.
