On 24th April 1999 there was a celebration of 150 years of the railways at Dundalk. No.171 worked from Dublin to Dundalk with a train of Cravens and then worked to Poyntzpass and back. In the early evening, the train ran to Great Victoria Street and No.171 went light to Whitehead. It was also a sort of extended loco swap to get No.85 to Dublin and No.171 back to Whitehead.
