ItineraryDublin - Dundalk - Dublin - Galway - Dublin
The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland is delighted to announce the latest in the series of diesel railtours.
It is scheduled to depart from Dublin (Connolly) and head north from the capital, operating via the running loop in Skerries and the bi-directional line to Balbriggan. There will be a passenger pick up stop in Drogheda and then on to Dundalk. Here the loco will run around before heading back south again to Dublin. Along the way there will be some photo stops in Laytown and Skerries.
A loco change has been requested in Dublin before the train once again sets off, this time heading west to Galway. There will be a number of photo stops along the route and a break of 1½ hours in Galway, before a swift return to Dublin.
As with previous diesel railtours this one is sure to very popular and will sell out quickly so don't delay and get your booking in as soon as possible.
The train will be made up of our Cravens coaching stock complete with usual facilities of snack car serving a variety of hot and cold items throughout the day alongside our renowned bar car with draught and bottled beverages available all day.
For those travelling from overseas, it's worth noting that Dublin Bus have introduced two 24-hour bus routes which operate very closely past Connolly Station. This will aid participants who wish to avoid some of the extortionate hotel costs in the city centre. The routes in question are the 15 and 41, operating every 30 minutes from 23:00-06:30, and becoming more frequent at other times. There are numerous hotels along both routes and fares are very reasonable.
